This May Michael Severson will be launching his first official website for his destination sailing company, at the address www.seawindsailingadventures.com on May 10th.

Michael has been sailing for the past 30 years and teaching it at Sacramento City College for the past 17 years. In the late 80’s he acquired a 21 foot Santana and began his sailing odyssey. He recreationally sailed on lakes throughout Northern California for the next 15 years; then in 2003 he ventured on to bigger sail boats and fell in love with sailing on the ocean. He began chartering in exotic places and crewing on racing teams. He has sailed in the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama. He combines over 25 years of teaching experience with his love of sailing and looks forward to passing the joy of sailing on to others. He owns and has been growing his own sailing business of to destination sailing all over the world for the past 7 years, and is starting to build his online presence.

He is currently working with a small and student-led design studio, Flagship Design at Sacramento City College, who are helping to solidify the business’ image to fit the what his business has been doing as well as future goals.

Students often express a longing to go on a more extensive sailing trip than across the San Francisco Bay once they feel more confident in their abilities from their lessons with Michael, but don’t quite have the confidence to go a long distance completely on their own.“I’ve always wanted to travel by sailboat to an island for vacation because my dad taught me how to sail growing up, but I wouldn’t be comfortable trying to sail a long distance on my own.” – former student

In addition, Michael often meets people who, upon learning what he does with his business, are fascinated and interested in the idea of sailing to their next vacation destination. These people have made up the majority of his passengers on previous trips. Michael is eager to see how greatly using social media tools and having an online presence will help him reach people interested in sailing to their next destination, and increase awareness of the possibility as well. He is set to publish the website May 10th.
